The Golden Lions
Parachute Display Team

Welcome to The Golden Lions Parachute Display Team

..................................."We made almost £2000 from that one event and this would not have been possible without your help.
The amount made by the charity would have been much lower had it not been for your kind generosity and support of this event. "

..................................""As expected the Golden Lions Parachute Display was one of the highlights of the Show! Even with a certain senior visitor adjusting the timings, the efforts taken to show off your capabilities
was genuinely appreciated,"

“The Golden Lions” were formed in 1969 by professional soldiers wanting to promote the more ‘adventurous’ side of the Scottish Infantry, and help keep the British Army in the public eye. Since then, the Team have travelled all over the world and amazed crowds with their spectacular level of skill and discipline, and their ability to land within inches of a designated target.

The Golden Lions consist of a team of up to 12 Regular Soldiers from the newly formed Royal Regiment of Scotland. These soldiers must volunteer to attend a rigorous selection process followed by 12 months of training in Freefall, Accuracy and Display Co-ordination. Only the best of these will then be trained in the Canopy Formations discipline, where parachutists join their canopies together in formations high above the arena. This is an amazing discipline to watch and one of the hardest to perform. The Golden Lions are current Gold Medal Winners in the Scottish National Championships and Tri Service Championships for Canopy Formations.
